What I Didn’t Do on My Summer Vacation

Share

Where did the summer go? Seems like I blinked and here we are approaching fall. September and October are typically the warmest months, believe it or not, around here in the San Francisco Bay Area. June and July typically leave us socked in with fog and relatively cool temperatures. When the rest of the country is heating up in summertime, we’re still in knee warmers and vests. But then September rolls around and it’s perfect.

Here’s what I didn’t do this summer:

  1. Blog
  2. Do group rides

Kind of a strange confession considering this is a 1. Blog, about 2. Group Rides. But there you have it.

It was a busy summer nonetheless with trips to Costa Rica and almost a month in the Sierra Nevada around Tahoe and Yosemite. At some point, I’ll post about all the cycling I saw out on the roads in Costa Rica. I wasn’t doing any of the riding mind you but loved seeing everyone out. Seriously, Costa Rica is kind of a cycling paradise. Enough amazing singletrack at altitude in San Jose to keep anyone busy for a lifetime. And the roads are generally great with incredible climbs. San Jose reminds me of Salt Lake City – large city with great access to incredible mountains and climbing. No active volcanoes in SLT though – the fireworks at night around Arenal are enough to give the most jaded traveler a mix of awe and fear. If you ever get the chance, Costa Rica is a great place to explore. Surf’s not bad either.

So I’m excited to be back in the saddle. The group rides around home are just as I left – fast and furious and fun. You can look forward to more regular posting here at AGR. It’s gonna be a great fall!

Ride on…
